Arabic in Maadi

You would have thought that in our line of work we would be closing down and getting rid of staff. We're starting new classes all the time. Including Modern Standard Arabic and some higher levels too.
After the Eid we start new Arabic Classes in Zamalek.
In Maadi we have a lot of evening and morning classes, but less beginners - so get together with friends and come and join.

Welcome back KOICA

We're pleased to announce that we've expanded in Zamalek.

We now have a mini centre which is right next to the

Alexandria School of Theology. This means that we can share their classrooms. (Thanks AST!)

So, if you're looking to study Egyptian Arabic in Zamalek - let us know.

Goshen College Group

We're pleased to be hosting a group from Goshen College who are studying Arabic while in Cairo. They also are visiting a lot of places before setting off on volunteering opportunities around Egypt. Of course they'll be speaking some pretty good Arabic by then!

Reading Arabic is Hard

We all know that studying Arabic in Cairo can be hard. But now we have scientific proof on the BBC that reading Arabic is hard. Luckily - the ETC is starting a lot of new courses on 13th September.

You'll be able to use our 'in house' materials to help you learn your letters and hopefully to read in time! See the sample below.

Refurbishment

We've had a bit of a clean up in the ETC during early May. We've painted - redone the floor and given the place a makeover.

Arabic classes continued throughout, moving upstairs and downstairs depending on the day. We have a new door to keep the cool air in too!

If you'd like an Arabic course in Maadi, we have intensive evening classes starting in late May at the ETC. We are also beginning a new colloquial Arabic course in Zamalek in June.

We had a very short break for Egyptian Christmas - otherwise Arabic Lessons continued as normal over the Christmas break.

We again have classes at St John's Maadi, and All Saints Cathedral in Zamalek.

We aren't quite full. We have a new Classroom for Arabic study in Zamalek - and we couldn't get enough students for a Level 1 in the morning. Level 2, and evenings are full though. If you can find 4 friends and would like beginner's Egyptian Arabic Contact Us.

We've had a busy Autumn - lots of groups coming and going. Suddenly all is quiet - until next week when another group arrive. It is great that so many of our students are here for service to the people of Egypt, and after they've grappled with some basic Arabic, they're off around the country.

We're starting with quite a few more courses in January 2010. Currently we expect 3 new classes in Zamalek, 3 at St John's Church - Maadi as well as all the usual courses here at the ETC.

Beginner's Arabic Course in Zamalek

Since we are a service of the Episcopal Church of Egypt - is seems only right that we use the Cathedral to offer Arabic courses in Zamalek. They begin on Monday 2nd November, so if you're interested you'd better register!!

Getting Started with Arabic in Maadi

It seems that Cairo is full of new potential Arabic learners at the moment. We were going to put on the website a 'Top 30 words and Expressions' - but noticed that the Tourist Board already has a groovy interactive one!!
Have a look.

The ETC is pretty busy these days. We have 2 Level 1 classes coming to an end plus 4 Beginner Classes that have begun, or will begin in these middle 2 weeks of September.

Our two classes at St John's Church are going well.

As a beginner, we do have quite a bit of basic stuff to get through - numbers, letters, vegetables, money, greetings etc.

Here is a picture of Reham teaching the time - which is actually not that complicated!

It is a holiday at the beginning of next week for the end of Ramadan - so 'Kool sanna wi entu tayibeen'

Arabic Courses at the ETC

At the moment we are full!! Please, no more registrations until mid August. We haven't got enough hours in the day to teach you all! We have a KOICA group from Korea, plus a Chinese group. Canadians, English, Americans, Australians, Brazilians and Germans off the top of my head. But it is nice to be busy in the summer heat.
